Day 15: Eketahuna to Martinborough
We left the shabby chic (minus the chic) caravan bright and early. Some of us may or may not have taken the wrong road which meant an extra 8km. Conrad tried to call and text me to tell me I went the wrong way (I couldn't hear his shouting). I was just cruising along, feeling so proud no one had passed me yet, taking hills like a champ. I got cocky I did. And what happens when you get cocky? You get to enjoy the long ride of shame back to the beginning.
Luckily we had an awesome downhill to Masterton, which made up for my blunder. Here we bought some fresh berries and then went to an amazing cafe called Ten O'Clock Cookie. The name says it all doesn't it? I could have eaten all of the treats in this cafe. Look at them!
We made decent time this afternoon and stopped for a brief nap. It was glorious. The wind, however, was horrendous today. Luckily trendy pop ballads gave me requisite energy and fortitude to power on to Martinborough.
When we arrived in Martinborough, Toby's wife Lisa (Toby is also riding the TA), picked us up and let us stay at their farm. It was so beautiful! Also it felt wonderful to ride in a car again. So fast. So pleasant to my bum.
Yas car yas!

Um this farm is magical.
Lisa is basically running the farm alone so Toby can do this ride. She is hilarious and sassy. She tells Toby she might up and sell it while he's gone on his "holiday."
Lisa named this sheep after her husband Toby because she says this sheep is loud like he is. The dogs in the kennel are special shepherding dogs and each has a unique job.
Soft bed to sleep in!
And I got to snuggle with this baby for about ten minutes. That is like 50 years in cat time.
And with the 8km reroute this morning, I rode an even 100km today.
