The Bikepacking Gearlist...
Ok I love reading gear reviews and packing lists so here is what I took on my bike trip from Victoria to Astoria. Some of this stuff you can find better deals than the brand website link I provided but that was the easiest link to find. I will also say what I wish I would have taken and wish I would have left out but keep in mind I had several days to hang out in Oregon after the bike trip so I brought more clothes than I probably would have otherwise.
- Specialized Dolce road bike
- Specialized helmet
- Salsa Frame bag
- Specialized stabilizer
- Specialized handlebar drybag
- Specialized tube bag
- Schwalbe Marathon tires (Size depending on your bike size. These ran over EVERYTHING with no flats and stayed pretty pumped for about 5 days).
- spare tube
- tire levers
- master chain links
- bike lock (only used once when I went for a hike)
- bike gloves (nice the one day that was really cold but wish I would have used my fingerless pair since I had to take them off alot to look at my phone/take pictures)
- handlebar mirror (did not end up using and returned to REI)
- Osprey Mira backpack (great pack but would have preferred rear bike rack instead of wearing pack)
- Big Agnes tent (only 2 lbs. It was amazing)
- Big Agness tent footprint (definitely glad I had it)
- 2 Platypus water bottles (only needed one)
- Ultraspire bladder
- hand pump
- 30 degree sleeping bag
- Cocoon sleeping bag liner (protected my bag from my dirty stinky self)
- 2 bungee cords (to fasten my sleeping bag onto the saddle
- Klymit V insulated sleeping pad (it's a little bigger than their other pads but my luxury item as it's so warm!)
- Snowpeak light stove
- Pinnacle dualist pot (pot only)
- fire starter
- Sea to Summit pillow (LOVE this pillow)
- dry bag
- foldable rain jacket (didn't really rain but this jacket failed me in the Grand Canyon later on so it's been fired)
- cycling real jacket
- 1 padded pants
- 1 padded shorts
- 2 jerseys
- 2 LulaRoe leggings
- 4 underwear
- 1 bra
- Keens (these would have been perfect except they injured my tendon and hurt my foot the whole trip--they were also returned to REI--Nike's in photo instead)
- 1 pair of wool socks
- fitsocks (hated these! I wish I would have used flip flops)
- mirrorless DSLR camera (debated but glad I took it in the end)
- wide angle lens
- 50mm lens
- telephoto lens
- gorillapod
- camera remote
- phone
- SD phone card reader ( I love love love this thing! It means I can take photos from my DSLR to my iphone to edit and post in about 30 seconds. I use my camera WAY more now)
- 2 notebooks (only needed one)
- 2 pens
- coin purse
- passport (for Canada)
- tsa lock (for locker at hostel)
- sunglasses
- headphones
- charger cord
- back up battery
- battery cord
- hand sanitizer
- face wash
- wet wipes
- razor (the pits though)
- toothbrush
- sunblock
- vasaline mini
- chamois cream
- 2 hair ties
- 2 bobby pins
- Buff headband (Buff brand is more expensive but I notice the quality difference. I always go back to Buff brand)
What I wished I brought
- Bandaids (bought on the road)
- tylenol/advil (bought on the road)
- flip flops
- chain lube (stopped at bike shop and they lubed the chain for me)
- rear bike rack instead of backpack
- LOWER GEAR cassette for my bike (probably the biggest issue of the trip)
