Day 29: Blimey! It's Bluff!
This morning was dreary and miserable! The fog was relentless, wet, and cold. Every 20 seconds I had to wipe my finger across my glasses because they were so foggy and I couldn't see. Which of course means I had to sniff my Dorito-butt gloves every 20 seconds. I was "effin' and jeffin" as Conrad says.
But it doesn't matter now because me made it!!! We finished!!!!! About 2700km/1700 miles!
I was trying to lift my bike overhead in victory. It's too heavy! Alas, all of the resources have gone to me legs.
Well, now what? Drying out our tents in front of a cafe while drinking an iced chocolate that's what. It's kind of anticlimactic to reach the end of a 29 day journey. It doesn't feel real yet to be finished.
Jess says she's never seen me so relaxed as I was eating these amazeballs mashed potatoes. My body knows it doesn't have to be strong anymore. It can stop. It's so happy.
I hate goodbyes. More than I hate wet tents and never-ending fog. But we say goodbye to Conrad, promising to eat our hamburgers the civilized way, with sporks and Swiss Army knives of course. And we hope he enjoys eating entire tubs of yogurt on the curb when he goes home. His wife is going to wonder wth kind of habits he picked up from us haha.
I want to have something really profound to share about finishing, the wonderful people, the beautiful places... how crazy it is that this shuttle will cover in 3 hours what took us three days to ride. But I think I need some time to let it sink in. For now, I'll leave it at fatigued, content, and grateful ππ΄πΌπ¦β€ππ³πΏ π
